How to use the Goal Planner

Follow these steps to get the most out of the interactive calculator above. All results update instantly as you move the sliders — no button to press, no page to reload.

1
Choose your goal

Click or tap the tab that matches what you are planning for. You can switch between goals at any time — your inputs for each goal are saved separately.

Wealth Creation
Child Education
Retirement / FIRE
Emergency Fund
Home Purchase
Marriage / Event
2
Understand the two panels

The calculator has two sections. On mobile they stack vertically — scroll down to see your results after adjusting inputs.

Left — Parameters

Your inputs. Drag each slider to change the value. The current value is shown on the right of each label.

Right — Results

Three summary cards at the top, a growth chart in the middle, and a personalised insight box at the bottom.

3
Adjust the sliders

Each slider controls one input. Drag left or right — results update instantly. Here is what each goal tracks:

Goal Key Inputs Key Output
Wealth CreationLump sum, monthly SIP, target corpus, return, yearsProjected corpus, goal achievement %
Child EducationChild age, education cost today, inflation, yearsFuture cost, monthly SIP needed
Retirement / FIRECurrent age, retire age, monthly expenses, inflationFIRE number, monthly SIP, passive income
Emergency FundMonthly expenses, months of coverage, current savingsTarget fund, gap, months to complete
Home PurchaseProperty value, down payment %, years to buyDown payment needed, SIP, estimated EMI
Marriage / EventBudget, buffer, years away, current savingsTotal corpus target, monthly SIP
4
Read the chart

The stacked area chart shows how your money grows over time. Hover or tap on the chart to see exact values for any point.

Blue area — Invested
The total money you actually put in. Your principal.

Coloured area — Returns
Interest and growth earned on top. The wider this is, the harder compounding worked.

The Emergency Fund goal shows months on the X-axis (not years). Goals with a fixed target (Education, Emergency, Marriage) show a dashed target line — watch your savings cross it.
5
Read the insight box

Below the chart, a plain-language summary tells you the single most important action based on your inputs — the exact SIP you need, when you will hit your target, or what happens if you delay.

The insight box updates every time you move a slider. Use it as your decision guide — if the required SIP is too high, pull the years slider right and watch it come down.
6
Switch goals & build your complete plan

After planning one goal, click the next tab. Note the monthly SIP required for each. Repeat for all goals that apply to you — then add them up.

That total is your monthly investment target. If it exceeds what you can invest today, prioritise in this order: Emergency Fund first (always) → Retirement (most time-sensitive) → Child Education (inflation waits for no one) → Wealth Creation and others as capacity grows.
Frequently asked questions
Yes — and this is exactly why starting early matters. A Rs 50 lakh education corpus sounds large today, but if you have 15 years and invest Rs 12,000/month, the market does most of the work. The calculator shows you the manageable monthly step, not just the intimidating end number.
Use conservative estimates. If actual returns are higher, you reach your goal sooner. If you use optimistic estimates and they do not materialise, you will be short.
  • Under 3 years (Emergency Fund): 5–6% — liquid funds, FDs
  • 3–7 years (Medium-term): 8–10% — balanced / conservative equity
  • 7+ years (Long-term): 11–13% — diversified equity mutual funds, index funds
A lump sum is a one-time investment made today. A SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) is a fixed amount invested every month. The Wealth Creation calculator uses both simultaneously — you can enter an initial lump sum and a monthly SIP, and it projects the combined result.
Yes. The calculator displays the Indian Rupee symbol, but the mathematics is currency-agnostic. If you are planning in USD, EUR, or GBP, simply substitute the currency symbol mentally. All calculations — compounding, SIP projections, inflation adjustments — work identically.
This calculator is an educational tool to help you understand the numbers behind your goals. For personalised advice — asset allocation, tax planning, fund selection — consulting a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser (RIA) is strongly recommended.
